Prequel: What Was That For?

Reunion

Miriallia shuffled awkwardly in the private room she had been given in the Archangel. Oh gods, this was such a bad idea. She had not seen Dearka since he had caught her probing around the Zaft base and had dragged her to his room where they had that talk about her being more careful while doing her job. Their little... rendezvous had ended with him holding onto her for a minute or two longer before quietly leading her out and far away from the Zaft base.

The separation from that time had ended with discomfort and silence...

And now they were going to have some sort of impromptu reunion?

Miriallia fidgeted in her Orb uniform. And just what was Dearka going to say when he saw her wearing this uniform? She knew he was going to be furious at how not only did she choose such a dangerous job, she had also decided to rejoin the war.

She shook her head. No, no, no, it didn’t matter what he thought. She chose to participate in this war because she believed in what she was fighting for. Dearka had no right to get angry at her and besides, they had had no contact since their last meet! It wasn’t like she had the chance to tell him and since they were on ‘break’, she had no obligation to tell him at all!

But despite how Miriallia tried to feebly reassure herself, there was a tightening in her stomach as she started to grow sick from the anticipation.

With the end of the second war, some of the Joule team had docked into the nearest ship, which was the Archangel, and her instincts told her that Dearka was one of them. And her instincts were rarely wrong when it came to him.

How was she supposed to react now? In their last meet, she had been running purely on anger and resentment... not to mention a tad bit of annoyed affection and love... but what now? What was she supposed to do now?

The door slid open and Miriallia nearly shrieked in fright, whirling around to see who the person was. She sighed in relief when she saw that it was only Kira.

“Oh good, it’s just you.” She stiffened, however, when she saw the tall shadow behind Kira and the tuft of blonde hair. Kira smiled nervously at Miriallia, taking a step to the side, revealing Dearka Eslman in all his glory still wearing the Zaft pilot uniform. “D-D-Dearka!”

“Sorry Miri, Deakra was looking for you.” Kira said apologetically. He didn’t know all that happened between them other than the tidbits he had heard since the war had preoccupied most of his attention, but he was aware of their current shaky relationship.

“N-No, it’s fine.” Miriallia said, shuffling when she felt Dearka’s intense amethyst eyes on her. Good gods, couldn’t he look somewhere else? She tried to summon the anger she had felt for him from the beginning of the war, but too much time had passed and after he had pleaded her to be careful instead of stopping from her continuing her work, much of her anger had abated. She knew Dearka had learned his lesson... so it was impossible for her to stay angry at him.

But what did this mean now?

Did he still want to get back together?

Insecurities and confusion flung about in her head. Miriallia knew she was no beautiful wonder girl. She was just a bit above average, if not completely average. Dearka, however, was one of those super Zaft elites with influential parents and status to help him get through life without even lifting a finger. And she knew and wouldn’t deny that he was also very good-looking. During the period of time they were officially together, she had seen and felt the dirty looks she had gotten from those Coordinator girls and not to mention the things they would attempt to do to her. Those superficial things had never really mattered to Miriallia before, but right now, insecurities definitely won over confidence and irrationality was beating the hell out of sanity.

Sensing the tense atmosphere, Kira took a step a step back with a forced cough. “Well then, I’ll just... uh... leave you two alone to talk.”

Miriallia was half a second away from calling at him to stop when Dearka, the moment Kira stepped outside, punched in the code that locked the door. Her eyes widened and for a moment, she was too stunned to do anything.

“D-Dearka?” she managed to yelp out before she was literally pounced on by a very eager Coordinator. A hungry kiss was placed on her lips and her head was tilted back as Dearka’s tongue slipped in through the seams of her lips, deeply entering inside of her mouth. And as though the two had never separated in the first place, the passions from all those times ago quickly resurfaced.

She moaned lightly at the deep kiss and her arms instinctively reached upward, wrapping themselves around his neck. Her hands roamed upward, tangling themselves with his soft messy blonde hair. Gods, it’s been so long since the two had kissed, so long since he had last touched her like this. Never had she imagined that she’d be in such a situation where she’d feel so alone, so empty, when she wasn’t around the person she loved.

And those were the exact sentiments shared by Dearka. Before he had met Miriallia, women were just frivolous past-times, simple moments of pleasures before the real focus of his life came up. Yes, he did respect women as he had been taught well by his mother, contrary to popular belief... but they just hadn’t been all that important to him. Relationships and stuff like that took second place when compared to his obligation to Plant.

But all that had changed when he had met Miriallia.

He kissed her harder when he felt her fingers running through his hair.

She was now worth more to him than he had ever imagined a person could be to him.

Their kiss was interrupted when Miriallia began to tug frantically at his arm and after lingering for a moment longer, he reluctantly pulled away. A masculine sense of satisfaction filled him when Miriallia basically toppled into his arms, breathing hard while she clung onto his arms, trying to regain her composure.

“Dearka?” she asked quietly.

“Hm?” his reply was soft, his arm wrapped around her shoulders to keep her close while his other hand played absentmindedly with the soft strands of her hair. He was too busy relishing and remembering just how good it felt to have her in his arms.

She then laid a sharp whack on his arm. “What the hell was that?”

Though Dearka winced at the slight pain, he didn’t pull away from her. After months of being separated, he wasn’t going to let go of her that easily. “Ow, what was what?”

“T-That whole k-k-kiss thing!” she stammered out, feeling flustered at the memory despite how no one was around to listen... and they had done much more than just kiss in the past.

He remained still, blinking while his mind processed her words and the reason why she seemed so outraged and confused. “What’s wrong with kissing you?”

Miriallia’s jaw could have dropped at the question. Instead, she slumped against him with her head pressed against his chest. She was just too tired for this. The cease fire for the second war had just been implemented and the last thing she needed is drama with her ‘on-break’ boyfriend.

...at least she knew for sure that he didn’t want to break up with her... and she refused to say out loud of how relieved she was and of how her stomach was currently overflowing with butterflies.

Instead, her arms squirmed their way out from being trapped between them and wrapped themselves around Dearka, holding on to him tight.

It really did feel nice being able to hold him like this and being held back by him. She had truly missed him so much and it soothed her how he seemed to have matured, accepting how she was her own person who had her own dreams and wants. It healed the rumpled nerves and bundles of hurt she had carried with her during the second war.

“Are we... Are we back together?” she asked timidly, hating how she felt so exposed with just that one line. What happened to all that sass she normally threw around him? For once, she was stuck in the unknown, unsure of what was to happen. Normally, Dearka was the one who’d always wait for her, anticipating her replies to his bouts of affection.

But even though he had just madly kissed the life out of her, a part of her still wanted to be sure. She wanted to hear from his own mouth that they were back together, especially since she had been the one to break it off... the one who had left him behind...

He held her chin gently, tilting her face upward and she felt her cheeks blush at the sight of his softened eyes focused on her and her only. “Babe, I don’t think we’ve ever really been apart.”

Sacrifice - DearkaxMiriallia

I don't own any Gundam Seed or any of it's characters.... which makes me sad since so many characters with so much potential weren't fully developed! OTL

Please forgive any mistakes, both character-wise and grammatically-wise. I don't really have time to re-read and re-edit things.

Sacrifice

The first time Dearka had gone into berserker mode, it had been a frightening sight. Though playful and often regarded as immature, only a select few knew that Dearka was quite the calculating type who was always a step ahead of others. That was one of the reasons why he was considered such a deadly opponent. His mind was always clear in battle and he manipulated others, whether physically or mentally, in order to win the fight
But for him to be in such a high and powerful state had made him into an even more formidable enemy.
And it was her fault that he was like this right now.
Miriallia was normally very careful. A combination of quick wit and luck prevented her from getting caught by soldiers whenever she’d snoop around for information regarding the war or when she’d venture too close to war zones, but this time it had all gone wrong. The guide who had been leading her through the artillery blasted city had gotten killed and she had been taken by the vagrants who belonged neither to the Earth Forces or Zaft.
Stragglers who ran around in the lawless land, plundering, killing, raping however they pleased...
They hadn’t done anything to her at first, originally trying to figure out who she was and to see how useful she could be to them. But of course, they would find nothing other than the articles she had written for the Orb Union magazine and her time as a normal civilian. Her history in the Earth Forces was sealed so tightly that no one, not even those in the Earth Forces, would be able to easily discover her past.
Unfortunately, this meant she was useless to them... and the perfect prey.
Three days had gone by before they had determined her to be worthless for whatever sick cause they had going for them... and of course, as Miriallia had learned through her years of experience as a war photographer, whenever lawlessness ran rampant, women were often raped and tortured by the immoral men around them.
Her skin crawled, remembering the hands that ran as they pleased. There were bruises on her arms and some forming on her legs. Her shirt had been torn into pieces...
...but of course, just like whenever she was in trouble, Dearka would appear.
That stupid fool... her little knight in shining armor... always getting in trouble because of her, but he would always make an entrance whenever she was in danger.
And when he discovered her pinned down by several men on the cold and dirty floor, it was as though his blood had run cold and his sense of self had died. Something snapped at the sight of her so helpless and scared with tears on her face, the reddening of her cheek from being hit and the wounds all over her body.
A part of him had broke into pieces when he had learned of her disappearance and it had taken all of his willpower not to lose it then and there, to lose his self-control right in front of his superior and best friend.
And thank the gods that Yzak was his commander or else he would have defected from Zaft all over again, leaving without permission in order to find Miriallia and hunt down the bastards who dared to touch her.
She was his.
Under his protection, surrounded by his love... she had stolen everything from him the moment the two had connected during the war and she had only slowly started to shyly reciprocate.
And these pieces of filth had actually had the audacity to do this to her.
There had been seven men in total, but it was nothing Dearka couldn’t handle. He had been a Zaft Red Coat elite for a reason, demoted to Green only because of his actions in the last war. There had been several chances where he could have been promoted, but he never accepted. He was content with working under Yzak while having the free time to spend with Miriallia.
Those skills trained and burned into his mind all came tumbling out, easily disarming and tearing apart the men who had been taken off guard by the sight of the tall intimidating Coordinator with those misty flat amethyst eyes that seemed to pierce one’s soul.
It was a massacre.
Miriallia clutched onto the coat Dearka had draped around her, wincing at the loud cry of pain from one of the men as Dearka knocked his head into the wall.
So this was the famed Coordinator ability... the berserker mode, where one’s own abilities were heightened to the point of being a monster. Miriallia had heard of it before from Kira, but had only seen it in action whenever Kira went into such a mode in battle with the Gundam Suits.
However, it was a totally different story to see it close up in person with no weapons of mass destruction in between. And in a way, this was much more frightening and realistic.
It made one more aware of just how different Coordinators were from Naturals.
No shields, no swords, no man-made weaponry... just one’s own bare hands, proving how such weaponries were no match under the anger of a berserked Coordinator.
A monster?
Were the Blue Cosmos right? Were Coordinators abominations that didn’t deserve to live? Were they dangerous demons just lurking underneath that beautiful engineered exterior?
Miriallia tightened her grip on Dearka’s coat, angry at how her mind seemed to replay the ridiculous words those racist Blue Cosmos people always shouted.
No...
No!
No, they were wrong!

Miriallia chuckled lightly as Dearka snoozed on her lap, so deep into his sleep that he didn’t even budge as Yzak’s angry aura flared throughout the room. Shiho had an exasperated look while standing behind Yzak, though Miriallia spied the smile playing on her lips.
Miriallia had made an impromptu visit as her job had been nearby. Though Yzak had reluctantly allowed for them to talk for at least half an hour, somewhere along the way, the exhausted soldier had slowly started to fall asleep, apparently much too comfortable around her presence. And in all honesty, Miriallia hadn’t the heart to wake him up when the half-hour mark passed... though, even when she had run her fingers through his hair, Dearka had merely snuggled into her with a smile, not even close to waking up.
So much for the envied superior senses.
When he was like this, Dearka was more like a puppy than a feared Zaft soldier.

Would a monster be able to smile so serenely?

"D-Dearka, stop!” Miriallia squeaked as the tall blonde sprayed kisses all over her face. From the corner of her eye, she saw the flushed faces of their friends at the amorous advances of her boyfriend. Though embarrassed, Miriallia could understand Dearka’s unending affection since they hadn’t seen each other in months.
“How sweet, he missed her,” Lacus cooed while Athrun chuckled awkwardly. Of course Lacus wouldn’t notice anything other than the reasoning behind the affection.
“You perv, do that in a room, not in front of all of us!” Cagalli yelled, smacking her hands over her eyes so she didn’t have to see the display. Kira, on the other hand, looked torn between doing the same and stopping Dearka from practically ravishing one of his best friends in front of him.
Dearka paused and seemed to think about it for a moment before making a Cheshire grin. “Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go Miriallia.”
Her sapphire eyes goggled at him when he grabbed her hand and began to guide her away. She looked at him in astonishment, her head swiveling from him to her bemused friends as her mind tried to comprehend that he was guiding her to their room in the hotel. “W-Wait a mi-Dearka, you idiot!”

Would a demon be able to hold her hand so gently, as though she was the most precious thing to him in the world?
If he truly was just an unfeeling inhuman being, would he currently be running rampant, angry on her behalf over how these people had just tried to rob her dignity and humanity?
Miriallia grabbed Dearka’s blood-smeared wrist and was almost thrown forward at the force behind it. But as though he unconsciously knew who it was that had touched him, Dearka froze. The man whose collar he was holding groaned loudly in pain, but it fell to deaf ears as Dearka slowly turned his head.
There were flecks of blood on his handsome tanned face that had been tightened with a vicious scowl. Hell, there was blood even on his clothes, none of which belonged to him.
Mirialia’s trembling hand reached up to cup him by the cheek, her shimmering sapphire eyes gazing pleadingly right at him, willing him to come back to her. He wasn’t a killer. He wasn’t a monster. He was simply Dearka Elsman, the idiot she had fallen so hopelessly in love with.
“No more,” she whispered in a husky voice. “Please... no more...”
And as though her words had been the key, the man Dearka had been clutching dropped soundly onto the floor and she was pulled into a tight desperate embrace.
“I thought I’d lost you forever,” he whispered so softly and Miriallia could no longer hold the tears. The fear from the past few days and the fear she had felt now from when she had been... attacked... and when she had seen Dearka in such a blood-thirsty state... it all came out at once and she clutched onto him tightly, sobbing into his shirt.
Dearka held onto the back of her head, drawing her closer to him, as if to shield her from the other atrocities of the world.
So close... he had been so close in being too late in protecting her.
But never again.
There will never be a second time.
He could... and he would do better.
For there was no such thing as a sacrifice not worth enacting if it meant keeping Miriallia safe from harm.

AN: You know, I've never understood why people think Dearka is such a goofball... well, yeah, I understand in the context that he's very playful and mouthy... but you can tell that his true character isn't like that. Even the official guide-book/fanbook or whatever says that he's treacherous and cunning.

He's just very... gentle?... when it comes to Miriallia because he's unsure of how to handle her. She's something new to him... especially since this entire time, he believed her race to be the enemy. Not to mention, I believe he's a playboy and so, he's never really met an intelligent girl before... and I think he was also taken by not only how cute she is, but by how she held her pain inside instead of lashing out to the Coordinators. Once he realizes just how much he cares for her, you know his true personality will shine. I find him to have a darker, deeper personality than what most people believe. Like he was the only one to remain calm when Nicol was killed, saying that the focus shouldn't be about being sad or angry about it... that they should focus on getting revenge instead. He's also very quick witted with a sharp mouth.

Well... that's my take on him. He's a definite badass, not just a jokster. The thing I like about him the most is that he's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for. Once you think you have the upper-hand, he attacks you from behind and you won't have time to realize what just happened. Dearka just didn't have that much time to shine since those other characters were the main focus. -____- dumb in my opinion, especially since his relationship with Miriallia could have been a definitely juicy topic to explore.

Rumors

It was a bright beautiful day. The sun was shining brilliantly and the sky was as blue as it could be. Even the weather forecast had stated that today was going to be a clear, peaceful day.

...so why was her best friend Kira grabbing onto her shoulder with a constipated look on his face?

Miriallia sighed even as Kira tightly gripped her shoulders. “What’s wrong?”

“Is it true?”

Ho boy. Kira was normally the smart collected type, but if he was starting to bring out questions when she didn’t even know what he was talking about then they had problems. “Kira, start from the beginning. What’s going on with you?”

“Sai told Cagalli who told Athrun who told Lacus who told me that-that,” the bad feeling Miriallia had only grew at how Kira seemed to be freaking out.

“Kira, spit it out.” She bit out, torn between losing her patience and being worried about what could have possibly made Kira into a blubbering mess.

“I-I heard... I heard that y-you’re,” Kira gulped and then looked at her straight in the eye, “pregnant.”

There was a pregnant pause... pun intended.

“WHAT?” Miriallia shrieked so loudly that Kira’s enhanced senses made him feel as though his skull was being split in half. With a yelp, he released her shoulders and clung onto his ears. “I’m WHAT?”

“T-That’s the rumors circulating around the bridge,” Kira said with a wince, regaining his hearing a little.

“Where the hell could people have gotten that conclusion from?” she demanded, grabbing him by the collar as if by shaking him, the answers would somehow surface. “And for goodness sakes, we’re in war! Where the hell would I have the time to get p-p-pregnant and for your information, I’M STILL A VIRGIN!”

And then... somewhere in the distance, she heard a very happy cheer.

Miriallia promptly dropped Kira, her face rapidly paling.

She knew who the culprit of this entire mess was.

“DEARKA ELSMAN!”

::owari::

AN: Haha, just to tell readers, nah, Dearka didn't spread the rumors. He just conned Sai into starting a vaguely worded rumor he knew would escalate to a level like that. Rumors tend to do that, especially if it's spread via the telephone method. xD Dearka's crafty like that.

"What was that for?"

With a loud squeak, Miriallia stumbled forward until she landed on the bed. Regaining her bearings, she turned around and would have normally glared angrily at the man in front of her if he wasn’t giving her a fierce glower himself. The normally relaxed playful Coordinator was sporting one of the angriest scowls she had ever seen and for the first time in her life, it seemed to be aimed at her.

Still, she stubbornly resisted him. “What was that for?”

“Are you crazy?” he demanded in a low, tightly controlled voice.

She looked away, unwilling to stare into those intense amethyst colored eyes glowing with emotions. However, she was given no chance to escape. Dearka cupped her chin and pulled her face back, forcing her to gaze into his eyes.

“Miriallia, you of all people know just how dangerous it is right now for people, especially a Natural like you, to be wandering around so close to a Zaft base.” He spoke slowly, though whether it was so that she could hear each and every syllable he spoke or him trying to maintain control over his emotions, she didn’t know.

In fact, she didn’t really care either. Miriallia angrily pushed against his chest, managing to at least pull her face away from his grasp. However, he wasn’t willing to let her go.

Not just yet.

“Does it look like I care what you think? Because if I remember correctly, you’re the one who didn’t care what it was that I cared about!” she snapped, struggling against his tight grip. He probably wasn’t even using his full strength, but she would try to give him at least some sort of fight.

Dearka gritted his teeth, forcing himself to not accidentally break her slender wrist as he tried to subdue her. This woman was so delicate, even if she’d never admit it herself... did she truly understand what would happen if Zaft officials noticed her snooping around and imprisoned her?

Finally he had her pinned down on the bed. Her legs dangled over the edge, but she was given no chance to kick him as he had nestled himself in between them. Their fingers were knitted together as he kept her hands beside her head. And despite how defenseless she was before him, her beautiful sapphire eyes were turned to the side, still refusing to look at him.

His eyes softened at the sight of her so vulnerable and yet so strong. Unable to resist temptation, he leaned forward and pressed his head against her neck. How long has it been since he was this close to her?

She stiffened beneath him. “Don’t get any ideas, you jerk.”

“Look... I’m sorry I wasn’t as understanding as I should’ve been when you decided to become a photojournalist,” he began quietly. “I know... how hard it must’ve been for you... to keep hearing me spout nonsense, especially since I’ve been so selfish...”

She remained quiet.

Damn right he was selfish... he had hurt her when he refused to see her side of the story. Dearka would often revert to his playful side in order to smooth down her anger, but when it involved her desire to be a journalist, not even his sweet side could get her to give in. That should have been his clue on how serious she was about this.

And yet he had allowed their fights to drag on, refusing to take notice of what it was she wanted to do. How she wanted to capture the horror of this war with her photos, to somehow reach out to people –both Coordinators and Naturals alike– in order to show what a pointless and foolish war they were in.

He had hurt her, especially since she had been so understanding when he had returned to the military despite her fears...

Even if he was to apologize right now, she refused to listen. Her anger had yet to abate and she knew he knew this... so why the hell was he spouting this crap right now? It was too early for apologies and attempts to get back together, especially with the restarting of this stupid war.

“But please Miriallia,” she could almost hear the pleading in his voice. “Stop being so reckless. I... I can’t stop you from doing what you want... but at least be safe when you do your job.”

If his hands weren’t holding her down and if she still wasn’t so bitter towards him, she would have wrapped her arms around him and run her fingers through his hair... like old times. The feel of his hard body on top of her brought forth comforting memories of the time when they were together. Soon, she found herself relaxing underneath him while he nuzzled into her pulse.

“I said don’t get any ideas, you jerk,” she repeated though this time, it came out in a quiet murmur, lacking the venom from before. An inner-turmoil was quickly causing destruction in her mind. She couldn’t give into him right now, no matter how nice it felt to be in his arms again.

If she gave in right now, what would this mean in the future? She knew Dearka was in pain with their separation, but she was in pain as well. It was a hard lesson really. However, it was something Dearka needed to engrave deep within him.

She was his equal, be it race or gender. And this meant he needed to respect her wishes, even if it caused him fear or pain.

And besides, the renewal of the war meant that this was no time for them to get back together anyways...

Miriallia sighed. “I’ll... try to be careful. I can’t promise you anything.”

“Trying is good enough for me.” Dearka pulled back and neither of the two voiced out on how they already missed each other’s warmth. However, he refused to release their joined fingers and instead tightened his grip. “Just come back to me safe when this is all over.”

Technology

“Readjusting thirty degrees north,” the computer murmured into Dearka’s earphone as he stared grimly into the screen. He then began to type rapidly into the keyboard, setting more refined coordinates and refocusing the quality of the image.

Dearka stiffened and grumbled under his breath, obviously very irritated.

Shit...

The door to the computer room opened and he heard footsteps enter. With a growl, Dearka leaned backwards, glaring at the screen.

“What are you doing, Elsman?” his commander and childhood friend asked, pulling back Dearka’s seat so he could get a better look at the screen. He hadn’t assigned Dearka any assignments recently so there really shouldn’t be any reason for him to be in the main computer room.

“I can’t do it...”

“Do what?” Yzak asked, looking puzzled at what all the open programs were for.

Obviously the idiot has been hacking around the system files again since Yzak spotted several programs that weren’t normally found even in the main controls. What, Dearka wasn’t able to gain access into certain ports?

Yzak quirked one slender eyebrow at the content on the screens.

Dearka had hacked into one of the roaming satellites of Earth that was still functional. He had done so by first entering Zaft’s state of the art super computers in order to enter such a distant system. After entering the satellites, he had tried to activate the ultra refined telescope-like cameras...

...and those coordinates...

“Dearka,” Yzak began slowly.

“Hm?” the tanned man asked, apparently in deep thought as he tried to solve his problems.

“These coordinates are set for Orb...”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Don’t tell me you’re actually using Zaft’s computers in order to hack into earth’s satellites so you can spy on Miriallia Haww!”

Dearka blinked at him innocently. “Yeah, why-?”

“YOU IDIOT!” Yzak yelled, smacking Dearka on the head. “DON’T ABUSE TECHNOLOGY FOR YOUR SELFISH NEEDS, YOU STALKER!”

::owari::

AN: Hahaha, bad Dearka! Not to mention, that'd probably start a new war with how the Naturals could start screaming about how Coordinators are spying on them or something. xD

SequelWhat Was That For?

Bittersweet

When they broke up, it had been bittersweet.

Miriallia understood the reason why he was so adamant in stopping her from pursuing her dream of being a photojournalist. It was dangerous and what with the war restarting, she would most likely be in the front lines the majority of the time. The chances of her getting killed were dangerously high and she knew it would worry him to death.

But... that damn hypocrite!

A soldier worried for her safety when with the resuming of the war he would now literally be in the front lines?

Wasn’t he aware of just how deathly scared she was at the mere idea of him fighting? Of how she still had nightmares of the ‘Signal Lost’ sign flashing repeatedly in front of her when Tolle died? Her heart wouldn’t be able to take another blow that strong... especially when sometimes she felt as though she loved Dearka even more than she had ever loved Tolle.

But despite the fear, despite the pain, she still gave her blessings when he returned to ZAFT. That was his dream, it was where he belonged. She understood that so despite her fears, she supported him when he returned to the military.

And now, when she finally found something she wanted to do, he threw this... this... this crap at her!

They had talked it over so many times, but neither side would budge.

It made Miriallia tear up at how much he loved her and yet couldn’t understand where she was coming from. And it broke her heart when she finally asked that they take a break. She could still remember the shock in his eyes, the horror in the realization just what it was that she was asking for...

But this wasn’t over.

No, they had too much history, too much love, for them to end in such a manner.

Someday they would get back together. That much was for sure.

However, until that time came, they could only cling onto the memories and promises of the future...

Yes, their breakup had been bittersweet indeed.

The first time Miriallia was kissed by Dearka, it had been soft, sweet, and hesitant. Something that defined Dearka in her opinion.

Yes, she was quite aware of his past with girls. There had been many, hoards of them in fact. Oh the stories she knew that was at the tip of Yzak’s tongue, ready to share all the horrors and gore. However, when it came to her, Miriallia knew he treated her differently.

As though she was something fragile... like glass...

She wasn’t sure if she liked this or not.

The dislike was obvious, but she felt rather touched by his gentle treatment. As Athrun had once pointed out, this proved of Dearka’s strong feelings for her. To him, she was special and he wanted to treat her as such. Not some frivolous fling that would be forgotten after a few weeks, maybe even days... but someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

But because of that, she considered him to be sweet.

Sweet like cinnamon in fact.

Many weren’t aware of this, but cinnamon tasted quite bitter by itself. The aroma is wonderful and attractive, causing many to be fooled into thinking that the powder itself would taste great. However, alone, it had a bitterness that would make even the toughest tongue flinch in pain. The true taste of cinnamon can only be reached once it is mixed with the other ingredients, calling forth its true appearance.

Dearka was charming and easily attracted women everywhere with his charismatic personality...

...but it wasn’t until he found his other half that the true sweetness of his personality shined...

Hollywood Movie Star - DearkaxMiriallia

I don't own any Gundam Seed or any of it's characters.... which makes me sad since so many characters with so much potential weren't fully developed! OTL

Hollywood Movie Star

The flames blew around hazardously, greedily devouring the walls of the once majestic house. Pictures burned and parts of the ceiling fell to the ground. Miriallia winced when one fell down especially close to her.

Her face was streaked with ash and her breathing was becoming labored. The fire had started out of nowhere and in the midst of escaping, the bookcase had fallen on top of her. The lower half of her body was stuck, leaving her trapped in the middle of the blazing inferno.

Gods, was this how it was going to end?

Alone, miserable, and in pain.... surrounded by this unbearable heat?

Miriallia shook her head furiously.

No! She refused to sit around and let it all end. She would fight tooth and nail before she allowed death to come even near her. She had too much to live for, too many people she loved and wanted to spend more time with...

...and after finally getting back together with that fool Dearka Elsman, she would be damned before she gave up her life so easily.

But still... the pain on the lower half of her body was maddening and was threatening to drain the meager will-power she had left. The smoke and the flames didn’t help as they inched closer to her helpless body. No matter how hard she struggled, the bookcase wouldn’t budge.

It made her tear up unwillingly and at that moment, terror struck her. She didn’t want to die here!

Then she heard it, a faint voice calling out her name from afar. A familiar voice...

“Miriallia!” Dearka roared over the flames, jumping over the burning beam that had fallen from the wall. He ignored the encroaching fire threatening to burn him, his heart beating fast at the sight of her on the floor half buried. “Shit!”

“D-Dearka?” she coughed, growing dizzy by the lack of oxygen. His blonde hair clung to his skin, obviously having become wet after he had drenched himself with water in order to enter the burning house. He was still in his uniform, too much in a hurry to change into a flame-proof suit.

The sound of her weak voice revived and killed him all over again. She was alive! But she needed medical attention fast. It was times like this he cursed the fact that Naturals were so delicate. He just never knew if she could make it or not with any sort of injury! Trying to quell the panic and fear inside, he immediately went to work. “Hang on, I’ll get you out of there!”

Bending down, he easily threw off the metal bookshelf with his Coordinator strength. He growled angrily at the sight of her bloodied legs, having become cut by the debris and the metal edges of the bookshelf. Dearka reached down and hoisted her up bridal style, keeping her close as he then began to run through the crumbling building.

And held in his protective grasp, Miriallia felt the tension in her body float away.

Even though they were still inside of the burning house, she couldn’t help but feel so safe and secure...

...to the point that she grinned at the thought of how Dearka’s search and rescue could easily put any old romantic Hollywood movie to shame.
